Proper Lockout/Tagout procedures are a means of safeguarding employees from injury or death caused by accidental start-up of machinery - whether mechanized or energized. This course provides participants with a combination of legislative procedures, specific job site requirements and a 'common-sense' application to proper Lockout/Tagout. Participants will be able to:
- Identify the purpose of Lockout/Tagout
- Understand basic Lockout/Tagout terminology
- Define the general legislative requirements concerning Lockout/Tagout
- Identify hazardous energy sources
- Recognize the dangers of working on "energized" equipment
- Identify when Lockout/Tagout must be applied
- Understand the Lockout/Tagout six-step procedure
- Identify common Lockout devices
- Identify "authorized" and "affected" individuals (employers, supervisors, workers, contractors) responsible for Lockout/Tagout
